Habits Are The Foundation of Success We all have some habits that we are not proud of what we want to break as well as other good habits that we want to nurture. Unfortunately, most people think breaking habits is like flipping a switch, i.e., that you just decide to quit smoking and you do or decide to start waking up early, and you simply do it. Here is the thing; habits don’t just disappear. You’re not going to wake up one day and find that you now hate cigarettes. Yes, you may let go of the habit for a while maybe because your mind is preoccupied with other things at the moment but unless you’ve made conscious efforts to break or alter a habit, it never really goes away. So, yes, you’re stuck with that damaging habit for the rest of your life until you do something about it. Unfortunately, ‘doing something about it’ is not always as easy as it sounds. When something becomes a habit, it’s more or less like an addiction. Moreover, learning a new habit is not easier either because the human brain doesn’t really like ‘hard work.’ You need to be deliberate and to sort of ‘hack’ your brain if you really want your mind to ‘get used’ to engaging in a specific habit. If you’ve tried breaking bad habits and building new ones unsuccessfully, you know that it is not a walk in the park. We know you also understand just how frustrating it can get.
