A taxi driver in Savannah, Georgia recounts his life in a "fictionalized memoir" from the end of his career while working in the basement of a publishing house to the beginning when he was forced into becoming a literary agent to sell poems that a biker uses as a motivational speaker in biker bars. Two journalism professionals meet during a party in a New York City penthouse and fall in love. During a trip to find editors for clients' manuscripts, they encounter a politician and his girlfriend at the start of an election campaign for The White House. The literary agent agrees to manage the campaign. A series of adventures include crimes of several varieties including Hollywood funding to produce a film based on a client's book.
